PawSmart started in a Brooklyn apartment with one dog, one broken feeder, and a very tired engineer.
Three years ago, our co-founder Maya watched her rescue retriever Olive miss yet another meal because the cheap auto feeder she bought jammed overnight. She wired up an Arduino, bolted it to a $40 food dispenser, and PawSmart’s first prototype was born.
Today we’re a team of 38 — half engineers, half certified veterinary technicians, plus a rotating cast of office dogs who test every shipment before it leaves the warehouse.
Every product starts with a licensed veterinarian on the design team. No launch without their sign-off.
